DSK Enclosures
DSKs that are used in educational labs are subject to a number of hazards, including having conductive objects dropped on them or having the DSK placed on top of conductive objects. Additionally, daughtercards are often subject to repeated connector insertion and removal, placing significant stress on the connector attachment points to the DSK. Our DSK enclosures serve to minimize these hazards while still permitting unencumbered access to the connectors and switches on the DSK. The enclosure consists of top and bottom precision machined transparent plexiglass panels, that are then fastened through the DSK and any daughtercards.

The DSK Enclosure panels are available in two sizes, to fit the TMS320C6713/6416T/5509A DSKs and the TMS320C5416/5510 DSKs. Images of a TMS320C6713 DSK and a TMS320VC5510 DSK can be seen below. There are several scenarios that may occur when mounting the enclosure panels to the DSKs.

  1. No daughtercard is present at the attachment point. (See scenario #1 below.) The hardware kit #1 contains the 2 screws, 2 spacers, and one 7/8" standoff shown.

  2. A daughtercard is present, but there is no corresponding mounting hole in the DSK. (See scenario #2 below.) The hardware kit #2 contains the screw, spacer, and nut shown.

  3. A daughtercard is present, and the DSK has a corresponding mounting hole. (See scenario #3 below.) The hardware kit #3 contains the 2 screws, 2 spacers, and one 12mm standoff shown.

Images of enclosure installation on representative DSKs is shown below. The TMS320C6713 DSK is shown with a DSK6XXXHPI daughtercard installed. This installation requires the following hardware kits;

  1. Three (3) of hardware kit #1.

  2. Two (2) of hardware kit #3.

A TMS320VC5510 DSK is shown with a DUAL3006 audio daughtercard installed. This installation requires the following hardware kits;

  1. Four (4) of hardware kit #1.

  2. One (1) of hardware kit #2.

  3. One (1) of hardware kit #3.

Enclosure panel prices are as shown below, plus shipping. For those who don't have the hardware on hand (or don't want to order large amounts of hardware that they don't need), mounting hardware kits are also available. Please note that the mounting hardware is priced as a kit for a single mounting location - order the number of kits to match your DSK configuration. A typical DSK configuration will use from four to six mounting kits. Please use the Ordering page to submit an order.

If you are using the enclosure panels with the DSK_COMM4 daughtercard, the top panel must be spaced higher above the daughtercard to clear the DB9 serial connectors. These hardware kits add an aditional 1/8" of spacer and longer screws, and are denoted as kit #1T through #3T.
